It’s been a rather gloomy week in terms of news with global events creating a sense of uncertainty for many of us. At times like this we often find ourselves focusing on the small things in life and realising that we all have a lot to be thankful for.

This was especially true at the CCA Convention and Gala Dinner on Wednesday evening. As always, we selected a charity to support as part of the proceedings. MusicAll is an exciting and inclusive project that encourages the talents and achievements of young musicians between 2-18 years with sensory impairment (visual and/or hearing) and who require additional support for learning.

We were honoured to have ‘The Fridays’, a rock band consisting of students and ex-students who are part of the MusicAll project, to deliver an opening welcome. The preparation to support the band with their performance is immense and would not be possible without the outstanding commitment from teaching staff, carers and parents. The band delivered the performance of a lifetime which, based on the applause and standing ovation from our 550+ strong audience was deeply humbling.

I would like to personally thank everyone who attended and helped make the event such a special experience for these young musicians. Their excitement was hard to contain and I hope you will join us in continuing to support their fundraising endeavours.

We are delighted to announce that through fundraising efforts on the night, collectively we will be donating £10,000 to the charity, to help towards building an extension to the existing music room to create an Expressive Arts Hub meaning the opportunity to involve more young people in the project.
